Avaya Expanded Meet-Me Conferencing
There always seems to be a need for
day-to-day, impromptu reservation-less
conferencing needs. With the high cost
of travel and time to disseminate
information, the cost-effective need to
have larger numbers of people on an
on-demand audio conference call became
evident. To meet those needs, Avaya
created Expanded Meet-Me Conferencing as
an extension of the current Avaya
Communication Manager 6-party Meet-Me
Conferencing capability.
A single Expanded Meet-Me conference
call can hold up to 300 people, or the
300 licenses can be divided among many
simultaneous conferences on the system.
As there are no recurring or per-use
fees to pay, an ROI in 4-6 months is
attainable, with thousands of dollars of
monthly costs saved compared to
outsourcing these services. As needs
grow, this solution can be part of a
migration path to full-featured Avaya
Meeting Exchange - Enterprise Edition
conferencing solutions.
Expanded Meet-Me Conferencing leverages
the same features, administrator, and
user experience as found in the 6-party
version. This includes entry and exit
tones, as well as a passcode for entry
(participant and moderator).
Additionally, Expanded Meet-Me
Conferencing also provides the following
capabilities:
-
A realtime phone display of the
conference size
-
Dynamic scrolling through the list
of participants
-
A view of which participants are
joining and dropping
-
Ability to disconnect selected
participants
-
Full mute control, including muting
all participants, or selected
participants
This software-based solution runs on an
Avaya S8500C server and connects with
Communication Manager Linux-based
servers via encrypted signaling links
(TLS - SIP standard). It uses the same
operating system as Communication
Manager (RedHat Linux 8.0), and supports
a wide range of endpoints including
analog, DCP, BRI, H.323, and SIP. This
makes it simple to install and maintain,
while leveraging an existing investment
in Avaya Communication Manager.
The capacity of the conferencing
solution is determined by the number of
licenses, which are available in bundles
of 50, up to a maximum of 300 per
Expanded Meet-Me Conferencing server.
